Driving School

The driving school consists of a two day course, which is held on Friday and Saturday, we keep Sunday for a rainout. The normal routine is, eight hours of class on Friday, which includes a half a day in class, and the remainder of the day out in the shop, with "HANDS ON" training. Knowing how to set-up a race car is the most important part of winning a race.

Every student that attends my class will receive a copy of the Thirty-two page book that I have put together from my over forty-three years of racing experience. Attending my class is the only way to receive a copy of this book. This book shows you how to set up a racecar and how to fix it at the track (Such as tightening up your racecar and loosening your racecar). We will complete the driving school on Saturday by spending eight hours at the track.

In the classroom we will learn about:

*

Chassis Set-up

*

Regular Shocks, Gas Shocks, and Springs

*

Wheels and Tires

*

How to do percentages

*

Ride Heights

*

Stagger

*

Toe In and Toe Out

*

Balance your race car

*

15 ways to loosen and tighten your car

*

How to set a 4-link system

The cost of the school is $1000 and you can bring a helper for an extra $500. *helpers can come to the set-up class and can go to the track and participate, but canot drive*

Classes consist of fifteen students in the set-up class. I ususally only work with five to seven drivers at the track. The only thing that you are required to bring with you is your driving shoes or tennis shoes. If you would like to bring your own driving suit, you may. If not, the driving school furnishes suits for everyone.

We have three different kinds of cars: Open Wheel Modified, crate late model and a Super Late Model. If one of the cars gets crashed while the students are driving the students are not responsible for any repairs, the school will be responsible. The track is a 3/8 mile track and it is race ready.

Video cameras are NOT permitted in the classroom but are welcome at the track. Only tape recorders are permitted in the classroom.
